Week starting: 6th April 2026
A week of firsts, completions, and unexpected exam success.
What I worked on
Learning:
- Completed OSINT: Corporate Recon module on HTB Academy
- Quite extensive and detailed - solid coverage of real-world corporate intelligence gathering
- Azure study was slower this week (other priorities took over)
- Reading and researching NTDS.dit in Active Directory
- Deep dive into Active Directory database structure and attack implications
Community:
- Hosted the 4th HTB Uganda Meetup
- Guest speaker walked the audience through a Starting Point machine covering Redis
- Attended the very first HTB Zimbabwe Meetup
- Great to see the community expanding into new regions
Certifications:
- Remembered I had an INE eJPT exam voucher sitting unused
- Decided to just sit for the exam
- Passed in less than 4 hours
Key takeaways
The OSINT: Corporate Recon module was worth the time. It’s one thing to know OSINT theory - it’s another to have structured methodology for corporate intelligence gathering. The coverage was extensive and practical.
Hosting the 4th HTB Uganda session felt routine in the best way. The community has momentum now. Guest speakers, consistent attendance, good energy. It’s running itself.
Attending the first-ever HTB Zimbabwe meetup was special. Watching a new regional chapter launch reminded me of the early HTB Uganda days. The community is growing.
The eJPT exam was a pleasant surprise. I’d forgotten about the voucher entirely. Sat down, knocked it out in under 4 hours, passed. No stress, no extended prep - just applied what I already know. Sometimes certifications are just validation of existing skill rather than proof of new learning.
Challenges and friction
Azure study took a backseat this week. Not a blocker, just deprioritized when other things demanded attention.
Looking ahead
Week 14:
- Get back to consistent Azure study
- Continue NTDS.dit research
- Possibly knock out another HTB Academy module
Not every week needs to be a sprint. This was a steady week with a few wins.
