Week starting: 20th April 2026
A productive break week before diving back into exam prep.
What I worked on
Blue Team Labs:
- Took a small break from exam prep (more like a refresher)
- Finished all available HTB Very Easy Sherlocks
- Almost done with writeups for all of them (will push soon)
Content:
- Published two blog posts:
- “Notepad++ Supply Chain Attack” - breakdown and analysis
- “My Accidental Journey Into Blue Team (And What I Learned)” - honest reflection on the shift
Learning & Events:
- Attended Altered Security webinar: “Abusing Azure’s Global ARM APIs”
- Super fun stuff ; exactly the kind of offensive Azure content I needed
- Participated in a Cyber Drill: “Operation Glass House - Supply Chain Attack Response”
- Organized by FIRST, AFRALTI, and CTFRoom in partnership
- Real-world incident response simulation
Community:
- Hosted the 5th HTB Uganda Meetup
- Session was amazing; community momentum is strong
Key takeaways
The “break” from exam prep wasn’t really a break - it was just different work. Knocking out all the Very Easy Sherlocks in a sprint and documenting them systematically felt productive without the pressure of exam preparation.
Publishing two blog posts in one week felt good. The Notepad++ supply chain attack writeup ties directly into recent research, and the Blue Team journey post was something I’d been wanting to write for a while. Both resonated with people.
The Altered Security webinar on abusing Azure ARM APIs was perfectly timed. I’m deep in Azure study already, so seeing offensive techniques in action helped connect theory to practice. Super relevant.
The Operation Glass House cyber drill was eye-opening. Simulating a supply chain attack response with guidance from one of the best in the region made it all the more worth it.
The 5th HTB Uganda meetup felt like a milestone. Five sessions in, the community is self-sustaining. People show up consistently, engage deeply, and bring others along.
Challenges and friction
None this week. The break from exam grind was exactly what I needed. Coming back to focused study next week with fresh energy.
Looking ahead
Week 16:
- Back to exam prep (full focus)
- Finish and publish remaining Sherlock writeups
- Possibly one more blog if inspiration hits
Refreshed and ready to lock back in.
