Week starting: 15th June 2026
Heavy community week, a Windows machine that lined up perfectly with AD study, no blog this time.
What I worked on
HTB Machines:
- Completed machine 4 of HTB Season 11
- Windows box, landed right in the middle of AD study, which made it more valuable than a normal solve
- Writeup documented immediately post-solve
- Publishing when it retires
Community Sessions:
- Attended HTB Kenya session
- Attended HTB Zimbabwe session
- Hosted the regular HTB Uganda weekly session
- Three sessions across three chapters in one week
Exam Prep:
- Active Directory study continuing
- The Windows seasonal machine doubled as practical reinforcement for concepts being studied
East Africa Intervarsity CTF 2026:
- Challenge prep continuing with the CTFZone Labs team
Blog:
- No posts published this week
Key takeaways
The Windows machine landing in the middle of AD study was good timing. Solving something hands-on while the theory is still fresh reinforces it in a way that reading alone doesn’t. That’s the value of mixing machine work into study weeks rather than treating them as separate tracks.
Three community sessions in one week is the heaviest stretch in a while. Kenya, Zimbabwe, and the usual Uganda session back to back. Different communities, different energy each time, but the same underlying value: people showing up consistently to learn and exchange knowledge across the region.
No blog this week and that’s fine. Not every week needs output on that front. The machine work and community sessions carried the week.
Challenges and friction
Three sessions in one week left less room for anything else, which is part of why no blog went out. Not a problem, just a trade-off this week.
Looking ahead
Week 24:
- Continue Season 11 machines
- Keep AD study moving alongside machine work
- HTB Uganda session continues
- Intervarsity CTF prep continues
- Possible blog return depending on bandwidth
One machine, three sessions, zero blogs. Community-heavy week.
